Classic Statue Mantel

Carved of basswood this pair of classic "genius" statues support a trumeaux comprised of acanthus scroll brackets framing a garland consisting of over 200 individual flowers, fruits, pearls, insects and berries. The wall around the back of the trumeaux was subsequently mirrored creating a dramatic but formal greeting to the dining room. This carved ornament in this penthouse overlooking the Mississippi River was designed and produced by Phill Pittman in the mid eighties.
